Summer 2024 Application

Gulf Coast Freedom Schools is a free, six-week summer literacy and cultural enrichment program for K-8th students residing in Escambia County. Preference will be given to students of underserved communities, students in the Escambia County School District, and those receiving free and reduced lunch.

Eligibility Requirements
K-8th
Students residing in Escambia County who have completed grades K-8th by June 2024 are eligible to attend.
Transportation
Families must commit to providing transportation to and from the in-person program site.
Parent Meetings
Parents must commit to attending weekly, virtual parent meetings.
Qualifications
Students will be chosen based on school of attendance, date of application, as well as class openings.

2024 Program Details
June & July 2024
Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Ferry Pass Elementary School (Grades K-8), Warrington Prep Academy (Grades K-8) and St. Monica’s Episcopal Church (Cantonment) (Grades K - 8). Priority applications close May 2024.
Apply to be a Servant Leader Intern
The Servant Leader Intern (SLI) serves as a classroom teacher in the Gulf Coast Freedom Schools literacy based summer enrichment program. The SLI helps to serve breakfast and lunch, leads a literacy rich curriculum during the morning, and leads/chaperones activities in the afternoon. The Servant Leader Intern should be experienced in working with groups of children, responsible, energetic, possess the ability to think on his/her feet, be a good leader and a strong role model.
